nPower Championship: Huddersfield Town

Last season in League One saw a classic 4-4 at Hillsborough with the now departed Jordan Rhodes causing Wednesday all sorts of problems, but it was a 0-2 win for the Owls at the Galpharm Stadium (now renamed the John Smiths Stadium) that helped Wednesday achieve promotion. Huddersfield themselves reached the Championship with a record busting penalty shoot out victory over Sheffield United, winning 8-7. After two successive draws, the Terriers were hoping to get back to winning ways against a resurgent Sheffield Wednesday.

nPower Championship: Bolton Wanderers

Boxing Day, and a trip to Greater Manchester for Sheffield Wednesday to face Bolton Wanderers at The Reebok Stadium. Last season saw Bolton finish 18th in the Premier League and the Trotters are aiming for a quick return to the top flight, whilst Wednesday are hoping to put distance between themselves and a return to League One - so the battle for 3 points here would be a tough one.

nPower Championship: Charlton Athletic FC

In the last match before Christmas, Hillsborough played host to Charlton Athletic who look to bounce back from a 0-2 loss to Bolton in their last outing. Wednesday were hoping for back to back wins after their victory in the South Yorkshire derby against Barnsley. Last seasons League One champions and runners-up were hoping to give their fans a 3-point Christmas present.

This South Yorkshire derby comes with both teams in desperate need of points, having dropped into the relegation zone. With the 2 teams having scored the leagues least amount of goals, fans were wondering where the next win will come from. Managers Keith Hill and Dave Jones are reportedly clinging to their jobs and 3 points against a rival will help them no end.

Mounting pressure on manager Dave Jones had a chance to be put aside with the visit of fellow strugglers Bristol City at Hillsborough. The Robins themselves eager to climb out of the leagues early relegation zone and climb the Championship table.

nPower Championship: Cardiff City

It comes as no great surprise to see the Bluebirds flying high in the league and with the visit of struggling Sheffield Wednesday, Cardiff City had a good chance to make it 10 home wins out of 10 this season. Dave Jones made his return to the Cardiff City Stadium to a respective reception from the home fans, but it was his own teams fans that he now needs to win over following a string of poor results.
