The Players (with their twitter links)

Here is a brief history on each of Sheffield Wednesdays senior players - with links to their very own twitter profiles making it an easy step to follow the lads!

1. Chris Kirkland (GK)
The England international goalkeeper signed for the Owls in July 2012 on a 2 year contract. His previous clubs include Liverpool, Wigan and West Bromwich Albion and has one senior England cap with 8 U21 caps. With injury nightmares behind him, Kirkland proved a pivotal point in The Owls maintaining their Championship status as an ever-present force between the posts.

2. Lewis Buxton (DEF)
The versatile former loanee signed permanently from Stoke in January 2009. His other former clubs include Portsmouth, Exeter and Bournemouth and is currently contracted to Wednesday until 2015 after signing a contract extension in the summer of 2013 with days left of his contract remaining. 'Mr Consistent' proved a popular figure in 2012/13 as his excellent work helped the Owls in their battle to beat the drop 2012/13.

3. Reda Johnson (DEF)
The Benin international defender signed from Plymouth in January 2011 and quickly established himself as a fans favourite. With Gueugnon and Amiens listed as his former clubs, the goal-scoring defender is contracted to the Owls until 2014.

4. Anthony Gardner (DEF)
Gardner comes with Premiership experience from his time at Tottenham and Hull, Championship experience from a stint with Crystal Palace and has England international matches under his belt. Signed to Wednesday until 2014, he has racked up over 280 senior appearances over his career so far.

5. Kamil Zayatte (DEF)
The central defender signed for the Owls just before the 2013/14 season kicked off, signing a 2 year deal when the deal looked dead the day before (so Dave Jones said). The former Lens, BSC Young Boys and Hull City player impressed in a pre-season trial earning the deal. The solid centre-back is a more than welcome addition to the Owls squad and would look to be a first-team regular.

6. Jose Semedo (MF)
The Portuguese brick-wall signed a 3 year contract when Charlton Athletic allowed his contract to run down in 2011. The SWFC Players' Player of the Year & Fans Player of the Year is a huge hit at Hillsborough and has pedigree experience from Sporting  Lisbon.

After a successful loan stint and drawn out negotiations with Reading, Michail signed a 4 year contract in 2012 after a £1m+ deal was struck. He became an instant fan favourite as his enthusiastic runs terrorise defenders up and down the country.

8. Oguchialu Onyewu (DEF)
Standing at 6ft 4in the American international defender signed a short term deal at Sheffield Wednesday on the 11th January 2014 following his release from fellow Championship side, Queens Park Rangers. Having represented clubs such as Sporting Lisbon, AC Milan and Standard Liege, the Washington DC born powerhouse has represented his country 68 times and brings a wealth of experience to the Owls back line.

9. Gary Madine (S)
The 22 year old striker joined the Owls from Carlisle in January 2011, after rising through the ranks at Brunton Park and making his senior debut at 17 years old. In the Owls 2011/2012 promotion clinching season, Madine finished as top scorer with 18 league goals.

10. Jacques Maghoma (MF/S)
The 5ft 9" midfielder signed for Wednesday in the pre-season of 2013 from League Two side Burton Albion, on a 2 year deal. The pacey, goal-scoring winger can be played out wide or 'in the hole' behind strikers. He quickly got SWFC fans onside with his enthusiasm for the club and his twitter interaction with fans.

Signing from Bradford in January 2007, the Jamaican international has been a big hit on the terraces of Hillsborough. His lightening quick runs down the wing often excite the masses. His unpredictability and wayward shooting often frustrate fans but there is no doubting when JJ's on the ball the crowd anticipate something exciting.

12. David Prutton (MF)
SWFC signed the former Leeds, Colchester and Southampton player from Swindon in May 2011 on a free transfer. He made 25 league appearances last season scoring 2 fantastic goals, the most memorable on the opening day of the 2011-12 season against Rochdale. In the summer of 2013, the midfielder signed a 1 year contract extension, tying him to the Owls until 2014.

13. Adam Davies (GK)
October 2012 saw former Everton goalkeeper Davies sign on a month-to-month basis as cover at Hillsborough and did enough as back-up in training to continue his deal with the Owls.

14. Giles Coke (MF)
Another free acquisition - this time from Motherwell, in the SPL. He signed a 3 year deal in July 2010. Unable to force his way into the starting line-up, he was loaned to League One side Bury twice in the 2011-12 season. He signed a 2 year contract extension in the summer of 2013 to prolong his SWFC career.

15. Martin Taylor (DEF)
The strong, no-nonsense defender was brought in on deadline day 2012 from Watford FC, signing a 2 year deal for an undisclosed fee. Blackburn Rovers, Birmingham City and Norwich City are the club Taylor gained experience from.

16. Rhys McCabe (MF)
In beating clubs such as Everton, Swansea and QPR to the signature of the bright prospect from Glasgow Rangers, Sheffield Wednesday signaled their intent to the rest of the Championship. July 2012 saw the young Scot sign a 3 year deal. He has represented Scotland at U21 level and is expected to further his international career at senior level very soon.

17. Jeremy Helan (MF)
After 2 successful loan deals at Wednesday, Helan was signed in the pre-season of 2013 from under the noses of Watford who thought they had the Manchester City winger signed. The graduate of the Man City academy is a welcome addition to the Owls side and the fan favourite will make a difference to an attack minded Wednesday team.

18. Chris Maguire (S)
Former Derby and Aberdeen striker Maguire signed for the Hillsborough outfit in the summer of 2012 on a 3 year deal. He has 110 senior appearances and has 33 goals under his belt. He believes he wasted time at Championship club Derby and hopes to resurrect his career with Wednesday.

19. Joe Mattock (D)
Summer 2012 saw the acquisition of Mattock on a 3 year deal. His former clubs include Leicester, West Bromwich Albion, Portsmouth and Brighton & Hove Albion. The 22 year old has represented England at U17, U19 and U21 levels.

20. Kieran Lee (DEF)
Ex Manchester United player Lee signed for Wednesday in the summer of 2012 after Oldham Athletic let his contract run down, putting his signature on a 3 year deal. He was an extremely popular player at Oldham, sweeping the board with their season awards (all 4) on 2 consecutive seasons.

21. Paul Corry (MF)
Replacing the quickly-departed Diogo Amado as SWFCs #21, Corry signed from University College Dublin in the League of Ireland in August 2012 on a 3 year deal. The starlet has been seen as somewhat as a coup for the Owls, beating a host of English Premiership and Championship sides to the midfielders signature.

22. Liam Palmer (MF)
Worksop-born Scotland U21 midfielder Palmer, is an Owls academy graduate with an exciting future ahead. January 2013 saw the young prospect sign a 2 year contract extension whilst on a successful loan at Tranmere Rovers. Pre-season 2013 saw Palmer fill in at right-back, where he excelled and added to his repertoire.

23. Danny Mayor (MF)
An energetic winger and product of the Preston North End academy that made 64 appearances for The Lilywhites before a move to Hillsborough materialsed in the form of a 3 year contact in August 2012. Mainly used out wide as an attacking winger, Mayor possesses pace and enthusiasm and can also be deployed in a more central role.

30. Arron Jameson (GK)
Academy product Jameson has had loan spells away from Hillsborough in recent seasons but remains part of the setup at S6. The Sheffield born 6ft 3" keeper is a player that has been at Wednesday since 2008 but has spent most of his Owls career away on loan, gaining league experience that bodes well for his future.

32. Miguel Llera (DEF)
Blackpool were the club that let Llera's contract expire much to the benefit of the Owls. The Spanish defender signed a deal that expired in the summer of 2013 but signed a 1 year extension when the season ended. Llera had previous playing time with Wednesday midfielder Semedo at Charlton, whom he joined from his first English club, MK Dons. The goal scoring defender is a huge hit with the Wednesday fans for his solid workmanlike displays at the back.

34. Atdhe Nuhiu (S)
Standing at 6ft 6" tall, the Albanian target man signed for Wednesday in pre-season 2013 on a 3 year contract. He turned down Premier League interest stating that Hillsborough 'just felt right'. The former Rapid Vienna striker has represented Austria at U21 level and is held in high regard. Adding strength and height to the Wednesday forward line, Nuhiu has a club history that includes Eskisehirspor (Turkey), Austria Kamten and of course the European giants; Rapid Vienna.

36. Glenn Loovens (DEF)
December 2013 saw the acquisition of 6ft 2in defender Loovens on a free transfer after representing Feyenoord, Cardiff City and Celtic. The short term deal sees the Netherlands born centre back stay with the Owls until at least the end of the 2013/14 season.
